Dundee Schools' Music Theatre: Chicago Teen Edition

Dundee Schools
Chicago, Teen Edition is a 1975 American musical set in Chicago in the “Roaring Twenties”, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. Based on a 1926 play of the same title by reporter and playwright Maurine Dallas Watkins about actual criminals and crimes on which she reported, the musical tells a story of corruption in the administration of criminal justice and the concept of the "celebrity criminal".

Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and eventually...acquittal.
