Waterstones Children's Book Festival - Dundee.
Following the enormous success of last year’s inaugural Waterstones Children’s Book Festival, our celebration of the magic of children’s literature returns in 2026. Coming to Dundee from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 February and jam-packed with author events, workshops, activities and more, book your tickets now for a truly unmissable event.

Join award-winning children’s author Fiona Lowry for a joyful storytelling session featuring her much-loved picture book Mousey Mornings. Children will meet Melvin and Zara - two little mice with big hearts - as they discover the power of friendship, teamwork, and learning to help each other.

Fiona’s events are warm, interactive, and designed to spark confidence and creativity in young readers. After the reading, children can enjoy a hands-on craft activity decorating their very own chef’s hat, inspired by Melvin’s morning adventures. The session will finish with a relaxed book signing, where Fiona will happily personalise copies for your child.

Enter the deep dark wood where a wonderful storytelling adventure awaits! In anticipation of the first new Gruffalo story in over 20 years (publishing this September), we invite you to join storyteller Liz Fost for a magical, hour-long Gruffalo event inspired by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved tales The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child.

This interactive event features engaging readings from both stories, alongside Gruffalo-themed activities that encourage imagination, participation, and plenty of smiles. Whether your child already knows the Gruffalo’s knobbly knees and turned-out toes, or is meeting him for the very first time, this session promises a warm, playful, and memorable festival experience. The Gruffalo himself may even make an appearance!

Suitable for ages 3-7 years.
