Alan is a weel kent face in the folk scene having started attending folk clubs more than 50 years ago. He has been involved with organizing clubs and events as well as tutoring for many years. Probably best known as a performer, he has worked in many bands and is now a member of the ever-popular Haggerdash with whom he visited the Wighton a few years ago.

He is well known for his songwriting and is now branching out as a solo performer with a number of festival and club performances under his belt. He has a wide and varied repertoire of songs from traditional to contemporary with a wee taste of country, blues and modern thrown in. There will definitely be a number of his own songs on the day. He writes in a very traditional style with tunes and choruses that are catchy and easy to pick up and he loves to hear audiences join in. There could be any number of instruments played on the day but will probably include bouzouki, concertina, banjo and guitar.

Alan now also presents a radio show, “Morgan’s Choice”, Saturdays from 6-8pm on Celtic Music Radio 95FM. The show will give you a good idea of the music Alan and Morgan (the dog) enjoy with a flavour of what you can expect of Alan live.
