Make a Splash this October for just £1

Olympia £1 Summer Sport Lesisure and Culture dundee Cllr Mark Flynn Stewart Hunter Judy Dobbie

After proving successful this summer, the £1 swimming offer is back.

From 4pm on 9 October to 25 October, during the October school holidays, children and young people can use any Dundee pool for just £1 per swim, helping remove cost as a barrier and encouraging more to stay active during the school holidays.

£1 swimming cards will be distributed to school pupils across the city to use for this offer. Young people living in Dundee can also use their National Entitlement Card (NEC) to swim at the city's pools for just £1 per session.

The programme builds on the success of the 2026 Summer of Sport, which provided free and low-cost opportunities across the city, including more than 13,850 £1 swim sessions used across Dundee's swimming pools during the six-week summer holiday.

£1 swim is available at Olympia, Lochee Swimming & Leisure Centre and St. Pauls, Grove and Harris Swim & Sports Centres.

The 2026 Summer of Sport is backed by Scottish Government investment and delivered locally by Dundee City Council and Leisure & Culture Dundee through Active Dundee, Active Schools and partners.

Children and Families Convener Councillor Stewart Hunter said: "On the back of an incredibly successful summer, with nearly 14,000 £1 swimming sessions used, it's great to see this £1 swimming offer continue during the October holidays.

"We know there is an ongoing cost of living crisis, and I'm sure many families will welcome this offer, which will give children and young people across the city a low-cost way to stay active and have fun with family and friends over the holidays."

Scott Urquhart, Head of Leisure, Sport and Physical Activity Services at Active Dundee, said: "The response to our £1 swimming offer over the summer showed just how much families value affordable opportunities to stay active during the school holidays.

"Swimming is a fun and accessible activity that helps children build confidence, improve wellbeing and develop an important life skill. We're delighted to bring the £1 offer back for the October holidays and would encourage as many young people as possible to make the most of the opportunity to enjoy our pools during the school break."
