When you want to move out of rented accommodation it is important to give appropriate notice to your landlord. You should check your tenancy agreement to find out what kind of notice must be given.

When you move out, you must :

Repairs

• If you have problems during your tenancy with any repairs, do not attempt to fix them yourself, contact your landlord immediately and they will organise to repair/replace it.
• Most landlords will have their own qualified contractors/tradesmen who will carry out the work.
• If you smell gas call 0800 111 999.

Damage

• If you damage anything in the property, you will normally be liable for the damage.
• This may be taken from your deposit.

Rent

Wherever you are living you should be considerate to your neighbours. Living in a flat brings special responsibilities as you may have neighbours above/below and beside you.

When you have found a property that is suitable and the landlord has agreed to rent it to you, there are some things you will have to do.
