What's On - Dundee Theosophical Society

An illustrated talk by Malcolm Macqueen looking at the significance of the Sola Busca Tarot, and unravelling its alchemical and esoteric meanings. Malcolm is a long time Theosophist and astrologer. He is President of the Glasgow Theosophical Lodge and is the Organising Secretary of the TS in Scotland.

The Sola Busca Tarot (1491) is the earliest complete 78 card Tarot and is unique in illustrating all the minor arcana (pip cards). It is packed full of alchemical, Greek and Roman imagery. These illustrations greatly influenced the Rider Waite pack, which has become the model for most modern decks. The artist Pamela Coleman- Smith drew inspiration from this deck.
