Dundee and India: New Perspectives image
Join us for this free event organised by the University of Dundee Archive and Museum Services with Dundee Heritage Trust, looking at how new approaches to cultural collections can broaden our understanding of Dundee’s historic connections with the Indian subcontinent. Speakers include:

Erin Hancock, researcher for the University of Dundee Founders Project, who has been exploring ties to India through those who contributed money to the University's foundation

Caroline Brown, University Archivist, who will discuss the Indian related archive collections at the University

Renuka Ramanujam, textile designer and printmaker, who will talk about her recently commissioned artwork based on an East India Company jacket currently on display at the Meffan in Forfar

Matthew Jarron, museum curator and secretary of the Abertay Historical Society, who will discuss the Woven Together community research project and some of the stories it has uncovered

We will close with a guided tour of the new India gallery at Verdant Works led by Kim Turford-Mowat and David Reid of Dundee Heritage Trust.

Places are limited and must be booked via eventbrite.
