Join us at the Roundhouse in Dundee for an afternoon celebrating our food journey with multi-award-winning chef Adam Newth and step from the fields of Angus to the plains of East Africa. Set your tastebuds alight with a sumptuous three course meal cooked by chef Adam using locally sourced surplus foods. Adam will share some of his culinary secrets and inspire you with his creativity through two demonstrations during the afternoon, there will also be opportunity to see and hear from the Signpost team about what the charity does at home and around the world to ensure people have enough good food to eat.

Sustainability lies at the heart of Adam’s own culinary journey and this partnership with local charity Signpost International represents a coming together of passions to raise awareness and to tackle the twin issues of food waste and hunger. It is estimated that one-fifth of all food produced for human consumption is wasted every single year, an incredible 1.3bn tonnes (26,000 tonnes from Dundee alone). And yet at the same time, almost ten percent of the global population, 732 million people, go hungry every day, with 40% of this figure facing acute levels of hunger. We believe that this is abhorrent.

If instead of this food going to waste, it was able to get to those who needed it, each hungry person could receive 2,536 meals per year (seven meals a day!). Clearly global hunger isn't about a lack of food, it is complex but there is enough food to go around if we only put our minds to it, get creative, and work together.

This promises to be a thought provoking and delicious experience not to be missed, and with spaces limited we advise early booking to avoid disappointment. Proceeds from the event will support Signpost’s ongoing work tackling hunger and food waste.
