The Tay Whale

 The Tay Whale Image
Come and hear the fascinating story from Dundee's past. An engrossed and light-hearted take on this famous event.

Preformed and written by Neil Paterson In November 1883 a young humpback whale swam into the Tay estuary. How did the Victorian population react? This is an extraordinary story of what happened next and how the bones of the whale ended up-suspended from the ceiling of the McManus Galleries in Dundee.
