Council Tax Ways to Pay content Council Tax payments are normally due on or before the 1st day of each month from April to January each year. If you wish to pay on any other date please contact our Customer Services Team on 01382 431205. You can choose to spread your payments over 10 or 12 monthly instalments. Payments received anytime after the due date of each month will result in you being in arrears and you may receive a reminder notice. The best way to avoid this is to sign up to pay by Direct Debit. 1. Pay by Direct Debit The is the simplest way to pay your Council Tax, you can choose to pay either on the 1st, 10th, 18th or 25th of each month. Payment by Direct Debit is only available for the current financial year. Sign up online - Set-up your own Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax online Sign up by telephone - Call our Customer Services Team on 01382 431205 who can set-up your Direct Debit immediately. Sign up by post - Fill in a Direct Debit form (118KB PDF) and return it to: Executive Director of Corporate Services, PO Box 216, Dundee, DD1 3YJ. Pay online (using your debit/credit card) Pay online - You will need your Council Tax account number which is on your bill. 3. Pay via telephone - (Using your debit/credit card) A 24 hour automated payment line is available by dialling 0845 6026943 (Calls charged at local rate). You will need to have your Council Tax account number and credit or debit card when you call. You will be told that your payment has been authorised and you will be given an authorisation code as confirmation. Your bank account or credit card account will be debited within three working days. All major credit/debit cards accepted, Switch, Delta, Visa or Mastercard. If you have any queries regarding this service, phone 01382 431205. 5. Pay by post You may pay by Cheque or Postal Order. Please make the cheque payable to 'Dundee City Council'. To avoid any delay in processing your payment please write your Council Tax account number, name and address on the reverse of your cheque/postal order and send to Executive Director of Corporate Services, PO Box 216, Dundee, DD1 3YJ. 6. Pay at Council office or PayPoint All Council Tax bills are produced with a payment barcode for easy payment. Simply hand the bill to the cashier advising of the amount you want to pay. Payments can be made at any of the Council offices listed below:. Dundee House, 50 North Lindsay Street, Dundee DD1 1QE West District Housing Office, 3 Sinclair Street, Dundee, DD2 3DA East District Housing Office, 169 Pitkerro Road, Dundee DD4 8ES The above offices are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30am to 5.00pmWednesday, 9.30am to 5.00pm. Cashier services at the West District Housing Office are unavailable from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Please note: as from 1st April the West Area Housing Office will no longer be accepting counter payments. Dundee House and East District Housing Office are still available for over the counter payments. Payments can also made at any outlet displaying the PayPoint symbol. PayPoint will only accept payments made by cash. PayPoints are normally located at supermarkets, newsagents and garages and are often open late into the evenings and at weekends, increasing the ease and flexibility with which you can pay.
