Armed Forces Day
25/06/26

THE PEOPLE of Dundee will come together in City Square later this week to mark Armed Forces Day.
Members of the public and veterans will pay tribute to the work of all branches of the armed services on Saturday (June 27).
Lord Provost of Dundee Bill Campbell, who is also Armed Forces and Veterans Champion for Dundee will speak at the event.
He said: “Armed Forces Day is one of those days marked out in the calendar as a special event, as it gives us a chance to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces.
“It is the day on which we show our appreciation for the often-forgotten things that the Armed Forces do for us: from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.
“Of course, it is only one day, but our Armed Forces personnel are serving on behalf of our country 365 days of the year, and round the clock. In all weathers and in every conceivable corner of the world.”
There will be short service on the steps of the Caird Hall at 11am attended by officers and elected members of Dundee City Council, MPs, MSPs and other invited guests, including military representatives.
Ex-services personnel in attendance will parade their standards, and Reverend Bob Wightman, Ex-Services Association Chaplain will lead the service.
