The Law Terraces Conservation Area nestles on the steep slopes of Dundee Law. Imposing neo-classical villas are sited on the lower slopes while terraces of smaller houses from the late 18th century predominate towards the summit.
Barnhill Conservation Area, designated in 1991 was subdivided into three separately designated conservation areas in 1997: Grove Reres Hill and Forthill.
The Forthill Conservation Area is located in Broughty Ferry, to the south-east of Dundee, over-looking the banks of the River Tay.

When is consent required?
You need the consent of the Council to prune, fell or lop trees covered by tree preservation orders and trees in conservation areas. There is no fee for these applications.
The Scottish Government passed legislation which took effect on 1 April 2014 enabling householders to apply to the Council in specified circumstances for a high hedge notice.
