How the Wood has Grown

Middleton Woods

The young trees in the fields near Braeview Academy and the Vale of Duntrune are part of Middleton Wood, Dundee's Community Woodland.

Tree-planting started in 1993.

Many of the young saplings will grow to be grand mature trees for the children of today to enjoy in their retirement.

Middleton Wood is not just for trees, it is:

  • a nature area for wildlife
  • for public use
  • for local participation
  • for nature study

What has been done?

  • pine and deciduous wood planted for good biodiversity
  • car park and paths created
  • rubbish removed
  • fun activities
  • website
  • schools activities

The Rangers lead school group activities exploring the wood.

Activities are planned to meet school work.

Fun Events

The Ranger Service hold a family fun day each summer which has trails, wildlife activities and crafts to make and take away. They are always free.
