I MUSEUM COLLECTING AND DISPOSAL POLICY

 

The Director of Leisure and Communities submitted Report No 31-2007 seeking approval for the adoption of the document entitled "Museum Collecting and Disposal Policy 2007-2012".

 

The Committee approved the contents of the policy to operate within the Leisure and Communities Department as detailed in Appendix 1 of the report.

 

II SUPPLY OF ITEMS OF GROUND MAINTENANCE MACHINERY

 

The Director of Leisure and Communities submitted Report No 32-2007 giving details of offers received to supply various items of ground maintenance machinery for the Leisure and Communities Department.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the undernoted lowest or most advantageous offers:-

III SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF PARKS SIGNAGE

 

The Director of Leisure and Communities submitted Report No 33-2007 giving details of offers received to supply the above signboards.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lower offer amounting to 12,870 from Forbes and Company.

 

IV TENDERS RECEIVED

 

The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 43-2007 giving details of an offer received from Dundee Contract Services to carry out external fabric improvements at Downfield Pavilion for the sum of 9,500 together with an allowance of 1,521 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 11,021.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer.

 

V HIRE OF FRAME TENTS AND MARQUEES

 

Reference was made to Article XI of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 18th April, 2005. There was submitted Agenda Note AN15-2007 requesting that the Committee continue with the three year agreement for the hire and erection of tents and marquees at the Dundee Flower and Food Festival to be held on 31st August and 1st and 2nd September, 2007 including insurance for 53,210.94 from Purvis Marquees.

 

The Committee agreed to continue with the three year framework tender from Purvis Marquees.

 

VI CAMPERDOWN PARK ROAD IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAMME 2006/2007

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN16-2007 advising that on the instructions of the Director of Leisure and Communities, proposals had been prepared for carrying out a road improvements programme within Camperdown Park including resurfacing of the north entrance and Wildlife Centre access road.

 

The Committee agreed that the City Engineer be instructed to include these works within the existing Partnership Agreement with Tayside Contracts and to extend the Partnering Agreement up to a value of 32,000 including professional fees.

 

VII DOUGLAS SPORTS CENTRE

 

The Convener, Lord Provost Letford and Councillors Hind, Duncan and Wallace declared a non-financial interest by virtue of their Council appointments as Directors of Dundee Leisure.

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN19-2007 proposing that in the interests of safety to both public and staff the existing tiling at the gents shower units be replaced to include a non-slip surface as well as an enhancement to the existing decor and replacement of old and broken tiling.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer amounting to 13,500 from Dundee Contract Services.

 

VIII ESTABLISHMENT OF "ULTIMATE" PITCH ON BUCKINGHAM JUNCTION, MAGDALEN GREEN PLAYING FIELDS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN25-2007 advising that the West End Community Council had asked Dundee City Council to redesignate the junior soccer pitches at Buckingham Junction as a new "field" for the game of Ultimate (a seven-a-side team game which had been popularised via Dundee University students and which was currently played to the area southeast of the bandstand directly due south of the McIntosh Patrick house).

 

The Committee approved this amendment to the Council's pitches strategy with the pitch being booked out on the same basis as other seven-a-side football pitches.
