  • South Castle Street (Riverside Esplanade to Blackwatch Parade)

    closed for 2 months for urban beach development works.

  • Douglas Terrace from Dundee Road to Home Street (Section 1), Douglas Terrace from Home Street to Westfield Road (Section 2), James Place from Westfield Road to Church Street (Section 3), Fisher Street from Church Street to Fort Street (Section 4) and Fisher Street from Fort Street to Ambrose Street (Section 5)

    closed in phases as described for 10 months for Flood Prevention Works.  No more than 2 sections may be closed at the same time.

  • Candle Lane (Allan Lane to Dock Street)

    closed for 2 weeks for crane lifting works for a new housing development.

  • The Esplanade, Broughty Ferry

    1) from a point 110 metres or thereby from the junction with Bridge Street for a distance of 400 metres or thereby in a westerly direction, (2) westbound from Panmure Street to Brook Street and (3) from Brook Street to Castle Lane - closed to vehicular traffic from Tuesday 5 January to provide physical distance measures for higher levels of pedestrians and cyclists.  This closure is expected to be in force for 12 months.

  • Euclid Crescent/Euclid Street

    closed from Monday 29 March for 5 months for carriageway and footway surfacing works.

  • Kirkton Area 2

    rolling road closures for one week for City Fibre cable installation work.  Streets affected are:  Ashmore Street, Beauly Avenue and Lismore Street.

  • Balgowan Area

    rolling road closures from one week for City Fibre cable installation work.  Streets affected are:  Loftus Road, Pitcairn Road and St Lukes Road.

  • Dundee Road (at Douglas Terrace bellmouth), Broughty Ferry

    road narrowing for one week for junction resurfacing works.

  • Balgowan Avenue (at Strathmartine Road to Balgowan Drive)

    closed eastbound from Monday 10 May to Wednesday 12 May for City Fibre work.

  • Balgowan Avenue (Haldane Avenue to Duncan Terrace)

    closed westbound from Thursday 13 May to Saturday 15 May for City Fibre work.

    overnight (7.30pm to 6.30am) southbound lane closure on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 May for utility works.

  • BT Cable Renewal Programme

    rolling off‑peak temporary traffic lights at various location from Monday 26 April for 2 weeks – streets affected in order are:  Strathmore Avenue (at Hospital Street); Loons Road (at Gardner Street); Logie Street (at Ancrum Road); Glamis Road (at Ancrum Road); City Road (at Pentland Avenue); Charleston Drive (at Yarrow Terrace); Glamis Road (at Elmwood Road); Blackness Road (at Seymour Street) and Perth Road (at Pennycook Lane).

Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of maintenance work including resurfacing and reconstruction as well as water, sewer, electricity, gas and telecom supply/renewal/maintenance works, etc.

It may be that the Dundee City Council is not responsible for these works.  However we have a duty to inform the public of any major situation which may arise – planned or otherwise – that may affect their ability to move about the city.  We have included here a listing of road closures and major lane closures or restrictions and the contact numbers for the main utility companies in case you have a query on any specific set of roadworks.
