Community Justice Services

The primary aim of Community Justice Services is to help people in the justice system address their offending and thus reduce the risk of re-offending. The service is co-located with health staff, police and the voluntary service, and provides the following services:

  • Writing reports and providing assessments to the courts and Parole Board
  • Supervising people placed on statutory orders, including Community Payback Orders, Drug Treatment Testing Orders, and supervision following release from custody
  • Providing a range of unpaid work placements, for those sentenced to unpaid work
  • Supervision of high risk individuals as part of partnership approach through Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA)
  • A dedicated women’s team
  • A Tayside-wide service delivering an accredited programme to eligible sex offenders
  • Voluntary throughcare to those leaving prison after serving shorter sentences
  • A court-based social work service which also provides a service to North East Fife

As part of Dundee City Council, Community Justice Services is a partner within the Dundee Community Justice Partnership, which seeks to tackle the causes of offending and reoffending.
