Community Safety Road Show

A new Community Safety Roadshow has been visiting Primary 7 pupils across Dundee to help young people stay safe.
The roadshow is being delivered in partnership with Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Dundee City Council, and NHS Tayside.
On Thursday, pupils at Downfield Primary School will hear from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, the council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, and other partners.
Drawing on data from Planet Youth, the sessions have been designed to address the real issues young people face. Their aim is to strengthen protective factors, reduce risks, and foster an environment where young people feel safe and supported.
The sessions cover a wide range of topics, including road safety, with a focus on e-bikes and e-scooters, digital safety, resilience and decision-making, and fire safety.
They also aim to ensure that young people know where to seek help in their community and can identify both safe and unsafe situations.
Children and Families Convener Stewart Hunter said: "The Community Safety Roadshow is more than just a school event, it’s a community wide effort to help our young people grow up safe, supported, and ready to thrive.
"We have visited every primary 7 pupil in the city to talk about ways to stay safe, feel safe in their communities and discuss the issues that matter to them. “As our young people grow up, we really want to empower them to be confident and understand the world around them. This roadshow tackles a range of important topics, including online safety and the use of e-scooters.
"We are also committed to working with our parents and carers to explore how they can best support young people."
Working with parents and carers involves providing help, support, and guidance on how they can best support young people. Evidence shows that knowing your child’s friends and their families, maintaining open and honest conversations, and being aware of their whereabouts can make a meaningful difference.
