A senior Dundee councillor was among the speakers at a major conference focusing on electric vehicle fleets.

Councillor Steven Rome, Dundee City Council’s Fair Work, Economic Growth, and Infrastructure convener, attended the MISSION ZERO roadshow hosted by Greenfleet Scotland.

The event, at the Apex Hotel in Dundee, was a chance for attendees to come together and share strategy ideas, pick up tips and knowledge and formulate net zero fleet plans.

Councillor Rome said: "I was delighted to come along and speak at this event. It was very apt to have this nationwide roadshow stop in the city as we are a leader in this area, especially among other local authorities.

“We have accomplished much on our Net Zero Journey - with fleet electrification, an extensive local network of charging points, industry leading charging hubs, the Low Emission Zone (LEZ), and energy decarbonisation. These examples along with actions set out in the Council’s Net Zero Transition Plan will help us to become a more sustainable city and a more modern council.

"There were many impressive contributions and insightful conversations had which I know will have a great impact in our city and beyond.”

The day included networking, presentations, keynote speakers and Q&A sessions with some of the main stakeholders and experts in the clean energy sector.

This is the 16th year the conference has taken place, and Dundee was the second stop on its tour of Scotland which started in Edinburgh on Monday and will finish in Inverness today.

You can find out more about the conference on the GreenFleet website and about Dundee City Council’s organisational approach and emissions reduction programmes to achieve our goal of net zero by 2038 on our website.
