Results Day Message From Convener

Children, Families and Communities Convener Stewart Hunter is congratulating pupils on their achievements as SQA results are texted and posted to them today (Tuesday 8 August).
“Today over 3000 (3,104) young people from Dundee's schools will receive the results of their SQA awards for 2023.
“They have worked extremely hard to prepare for these and their results that will help them to plan for the next steps in their futures.
“I would like to congratulate all young people on their achievements and thank our school staff for their efforts, and our parents, carers, and families for all the support they provide for their young people during what can be a very stressful period.
“A preliminary analysis of this year's results (before the appeals process takes place) shows even more young people sitting exams than in previous years.
“14,732 SQA awards were sat in 2023, compared to 13,556 last year.
“I am delighted that our young people are being given the opportunity to achieve awards in so many different subjects.
“The city council’s Children and Families Service is now undertaking a thorough analysis of the award data and a full report on the details will be presented to committee in due course.
“Information from these results will also help to plan for the new school year ahead.
“Staff are available in secondary schools this week to give young people and their families advice and support, and to discuss all their possible options.”
