Council Leader Cllr Mark Flynn and Convener for Fair Work, Economic Growth & Infrastructure Cllr Steven Rome have welcomed news that Dundee came top within Scotland in a list of best cities to move to as a graduate.

Ranking took place based on a range of factors including average wage, job availability, rent costs, utilities and the average cost of a meal.

Across the whole of the UK, Dundee ranked second in the top cities to start a graduate career as well as second in most affordable cities for a post-University career.

Council Leader Cllr Mark Flynn said: “Dundee’s impressive ranking in this list is further recognition of the affordability and many opportunities that our city has to offer.

“Our focus is firmly on providing a Dundee that allows people from here, and anyone who moves here to learn, to continue to prosper through fair work, housing and a vibrant city life.”

Fair Work, Economic Growth & Infrastructure Convener Cllr Steven Rome added: “Our city has a great amount of potential in the coming years in areas of expertise, such as the life sciences, technology, digital, creative and cultural industries.

“Graduates can play such an important role in making these aims a reality – with our Education sector continuing to play such an integral part in preparing the workforce for Dundee’s future. Our Employability Team and partners in the DWP are there to support graduates to take advantage of these opportunities.”
