Public Art

The City Development Department encourages the inclusion of appropriate public art within new developments and in public spaces.

Some examples of artworks in Dundee include:

City Square Fountain Artwork
City Square FountainsBy Lizanne Wood. The four standing forms placed in the pool of the fountains. Each of the standing forms takes on a poem that links to one of the classical elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
 
The Dundee Weaver Sculpture, Lochee High Street
The Dundee Weaver, Lochee High Street – by Malcolm Robertson was the aspiration of Lochee resident Stella Carrington, to have a sculpture that recognises the role of women and children in Dundee's jute industry

Lemmings Sculpture
Lemmings – by Alyson Conway. Three lemmings climb a column at Seabraes on Perth Road in Dundee. The characters celebrate the video games industry in Dundee through the ground-breaking success of a computer game created by Dundee based DMA Design.
 
 
Overgate
Sea Eagle Feathers – by Ellen Brown. The feathers with interpretation plinths, situated on the Stannergate cycle path, were commissioned by RSPB Scotland to celebrate the reintroduction of the Sea Eagle into Scotland
 
DNA (New Discovery)
DNA (New Discovery) – by Diane McLean – A double helix of DNA which reflects Dundee's importance in bio-technology industries and medical research. Located at the Gallacher Retail Park.
