Giant Hogweed

Giant Hogweed PlantsGiant Hogweed was introduced to Britain over 100 years ago as an ornamental garden plant. Since then, it has become an invasive plant and has become a problem in many urban and rural areas.

In Dundee, it is found mostly along the Dighty Burn, although it has spread along roads, railways, wasteland and even into gardens.

As well as a public health issue, it also prevents native plants from growing. Dundee City Council is taking action to control it, and is encouraging other land owners to control it too.
