I CREDIT UNIONS IN DUNDEE: FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
There was submitted Report No 571-2000 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development presenting a revised set of proposals from the original Report No 329-2000 setting out Dundee City Council's support for the future development Credit Unions in Dundee.
The Committee approved the following recommendations:-
(i)that Credit Union development in Dundee be focussed on a partnership between Dundee City Council and a consortium of agencies from the public, private, community and voluntary sectors to facilitate the establishment of a legally and financially independent Dundee City-Wide Credit Union;
(ii)that a vision for the future of a Dundee City-Wide Credit Union be further developed by the consortium and a business plan established to realise the vision;
(iii)that a Steering Group be appointed and charged with the responsibility for implementing the business plan and realising the vision for the Dundee City-Wide Credit Union;
(iv)that resource plans and financial forecasts be prepared and included as an essential element of the business plan;
(v)that a strategy for targeting external funding be prepared to cover additional costs during the start-up/development phase until such time as the membership grows to a scale whereby the Credit Union can achieve financial independence and long-term sustainability;
(vi)that existing Credit Unions continue to receive appropriate levels of support and have an opportunity to join the new Credit Union from the start of its operations or at a later date.
II SUPPLY OF 15 SEAT COMMUNITY TRANSPORT MINIBUS
There was submitted Report No 572-2000 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development detailing tenders received for the supply of a 15 seat community transport minibus and requesting a decision on acceptance thereof.
The Committee approved acceptance of the tender submitted by A M Phillip, Muiryfaulds, Forfar in the amount of 22,700 excluding VAT.
III NON-RECURRING REVENUE GRANTS FUND II, 2000/2001
At its meeting on 10th February, 1997, the Committee approved the criteria and procedures for the Department's grant aid portfolio (Report No 127-1997 refers).
There was submitted Report No 573-2000 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development detailing a recommended grant from the Non-Recurring Revenue Grants Fund 11, 2000/2001.
The Committee approved payment of a grant of 6,365 to Dundee Women's Health & Family Project.
IV ADULT EDUCATION FUND I, 2000/2001
At its meeting on 10th February, 1997, the Committee approved the criteria and procedures for the Department's grant aid portfolio (Report No 127-1997 refers).
There was submitted Report No 574-2000 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development detailing a recommended grant from the Adult Education Fund 1, 2000/2001.
The Committee approved payment of a grant of 2,350 to Harris Education & Recreation Association.
V NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS FUND IV, 2000/2001
At its meeting on 10th February, 1997, the Committee approved the criteria and procedures for the Department's grant aid portfolio (Report No 127-1997 refers).
There was submitted Report No 575-2000 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development detailing a recommended grant from the National Organisations Fund IV, 2000/2001.
The Committee approved payment of a grant of 150 to the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council.
