I DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
The Lord Provost and Councillor Dawson declared a non-financial interest in the item of business at Article III of this minute by virtue of family members being serving Police Officers.
II FIRE AND RESCUE QUARTERLY PERFORMANCE REPORT - 1ST APRIL TO 30TH JUNE, 2018
There was submitted Report No 235-2018 by Area Manager Gordon Pryde, Local Senior Officer, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service regarding the performance of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service against the priorities, outcomes and performance measures detailed within the Local Fire and Rescue Plan for Dundee 2017-2020, to facilitate local scrutiny.
Thereafter, the Convener, seconded by Councillor Alexander, moved that the report be agreed as submitted.
As an amendment, Councillor Marra, seconded by Councillor McCready, moved that the Committee:-
(i) notes the recent practice of Dundee Fire and Rescue capabilities being deployed to Aberdeen City;
(ii) express concern that such practices could lead to a shortage in emergency provision in Dundee;
(iii) further express concern that such practices are being utilised even before reorganisation of Fire Services due to the 100M national black hole in fire and rescue funding; and
(iv) request the Executive Director to write to the Chair of the Board of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to raise these concerns and request an urgent response.
On a division, there voted for the motion - the Convener, Lord Provost Borthwick, Depute Lord Provost Campbell, Bailies Roberts and Sawers and Councillors Alexander, Cordell, Dawson, Flynn, Hunter, Lynn, Murray, Rendall, Short and Smith (15); and for the amendment - Bailies Keenan, Wright, Scott and Macpherson and Councillors Cruickshank, Gordon, McCready, McIrvine, Malone, Marra, Richardson, Hay, Scott and Duncan (14) - whereupon the motion was declared carried.
III DUNDEE CITY LOCAL POLICING AREA - PERFORMANCE RESULTS -1ST APRIL, 2017 TO 31STMARCH, 2018 AND 1ST APRIL TO 30TH JUNE, 2018
There was submitted Report No 247-2018 by Chief Superintendent Paul Anderson, Police Scotland, (Tayside Division) providing information on the performance of Police Scotland against performance indicators that would facilitate local scrutiny and providing information on work which had taken place within the Dundee City Local Policing Area.
The Committee agreed to note and scrutinise the operational report.
IV DUNDEE COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP - COMMISSIONING BUDGET 2018/2019
There was submitted Report No 232-2018 by the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Services seeking approval for the Dundee Community Safety Partnership Commissioning Budget 2018-2019.
The Committee agreed to approve the proposed allocations which would allow partners to provide a strategic response to the Community Safety priority areas of work as identified within the Dundee Community Safety and Justice Local Outcomes and Improvements Plan, Outcome 6 - Our Communities will be safe and feel safe.
