I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

No declarations of interest were made.

 

II BAXTER PARK LIGHTING WORKS

 

There was submitted Report No 307-2012 by the Director of Environment seeking authority for the upgrading of the existing lighting system in Baxter Park and authorising the appointment of the street lighting partnership to undertake the works.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) approve the upgrading of the existing external lighting system in Baxter Park, subject to planning permission being approved; and

 

(ii) the appointment of the street lighting partnership to undertake these works at a cost of 73,050.

 

III LEAMS (LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM) REPORT

 

There was submitted Report No 328-2012 by the Director of Environment updating the Committee of the 2011/2012 LEAMS (Local Environmental Audit and Management System) Report, a statutory performance indicator of street cleanliness for local authorities in Scotland.

 

The Committee noted the results during 2011/2012 and the ongoing work by the Department in improving the quality of the external environment and promoting community pride in Dundee.

 

IV TRADING OPERATIONS FINANCIAL OPERATING STATEMENT AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE FOR THETHREE MONTHS ENDED 30TH JUNE, 2012

 

There was submitted Report No 313-2012 by the Directors of Corporate Services and Environment appraising the Committee on the financial position and operational performance of trading operation within the Environment Department for the three months ended 30th June, 2012.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the current financial position and operational performance for trading operations; and

 

(ii) note that the trading operation should exceed the statutory requirement of break-even for the third year of the current three year rolling period, which commenced at the start of financial year 2010/2011.

 

V CAMPERDOWN PARK DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2012/2017

 

There was submitted Report No 329-2012 by the Director of Environment advising the Committee on progress made in developing the Camperdown Park Development Plan 2012/2017 and to seeking approval for the adoption of the plan, including the urgent actions identified.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of this report and approve the adoption of the Camperdown Development Plan 2012/2017;

 

(ii) agree the early action programme 2012/2014 identified within the report; and

 

(iii) authorise the appropriate Directors to progress the actions listed within the plan, including pursuing external funding as appropriate.

 

VI GREEN CIRCULAR AND CORE PATH IMPROVEMENT WORKS 2012/2013

 

There was submitted Report No 326-2012 by the Director of Environment seeking authority to undertake minor improvement works to the Green Circular and the core path network within the city.

 

The Committee approved the proposed improvements, authorised the expenditure of 39,500 and instructed the Director of Environment to arrange for the works to be undertaken.

 

VII SUPPLY OF VEHICLES 2012/2013

 

There was submitted Report No 330-2012 by the Director of Environment seeking authority to purchase replacement vehicles as required by the Environment Department and Leisure and Culture Dundee Trust to maintain operational efficiency.

 

The Committee approved the purchase of the vehicles listed in Appendix 1 of the report, at a total cost of 1,083,055.

 

VIII HOUSEHOLD RECYCLING SCHEME TRIALS

 

This item was withdrawn.
