I TENDERS RECEIVED

 

(a) CITY ENGINEER

 

There was submitted Report No 252-2010 by the City Engineer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) GENERAL SCHOOL STRUCTURAL IMPROVEMENTS 2010/2011

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Anderson Specialist Contracting for 34,316, together with allowances for:-

Non-Contract Allowances

Professional Fees

6,900

 

making a total expenditure of 65,216.

 

(b) CITY ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES OFFICER

 

There was submitted Report No 346-2010 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) NEW WHITFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL - REMOVAL OF TREES

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services (Forestry Section) for 18,240, together with an allowance of 1,824 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 20,064.

 

(ii) MENZIESHILL HIGH SCHOOL - RENEWAL OF ROOF COVERINGS

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for 104,733.43, together with an allowance of 14,925 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 119,658.43.

 

(iii) ROCKWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL - ASBESTOS REMOVAL

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Gowrie Contracts Ltd, Dundee for 135,103.95, together with an allowance of 8,342 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 143,445.95.

 

(iv) OUR LADY'S RC PRIMARY SCHOOL - UPGRADE TO KITCHEN

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for 30,700, together with an allowance of 4,933 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 35,633.

 

(v) BRAEVIEW ACADEMY - UPGRADE TO KITCHEN SERVERY

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for 81,556, together with an allowance of 11,621 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 93,177.

 

(vi) DENS ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL - ELECTRICAL REWIRE

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee for 218,010.84, together with allowances of 12,000 for phased costs and 35,400 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 265,410.84.

 

(vii) ROSEBANK PRIMARY SCHOOL - ELECTRICAL REWIRE

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with E W Edwardson (Electrical Contractors) Ltd, Glenrothes for 195,383.12, together with allowances for:-

making a total expenditure of 308,483.12.

 

II CONSULTATION ON REGULATIONS TO REDUCE PRIMARY ONE CLASSES TO A MAXIMUM OF TWENTY FIVE

 

There was submitted Report No 325-2010 by the Director of Education relative to the above.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted that Dundee City Council's policy already was to organise Primary 1 classes to a maximum of 25 pupils; and

 

(ii) approved the response to the Scottish Government's consultation exercise.

 

III PPP INTERIM REVIEW - POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION

 

There was submitted Report No 326-2010 by the Director of Education submitting an interim review of the PPP programme across each of the new Dundee schools.

 

The Committee approved the report.
