I BIKE BOOST INITIATIVE

 

There was submitted Report No 164-2010 by the Director of City Development advising the Committee of the Council's intention to encourage cycling through the Get Cycling Bike Boost Initiative as part of the Dundee Travel Active programme.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(a) approve the payment of a grant of 100,000 to Get Cycling to deliver their Bike Boost Initiative in central Dundee; and

 

(b) remit the Director of City Development, in consultation with the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) and the Director of Finance to enter into an appropriate conditional grant agreement with Get Cycling to deliver the Bike Boost Initiative.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER

 

There was submitted Report No 139-2010 by the City Engineer advising of tenders received in respect of Dundee Waterfront Development Stage 3 - Contract 2, Tay Road Bridge Ramp Replacement and Westbound Temporary Route Provision.

 

The Committee approved acceptance of the lowest offer, from Farrans (Construction) Ltd, in the sum of 4,406,011.59, together with allowances amounting to 1,855,578, giving a total of 6,261,589.59.

 

III TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 181-2010 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received in respect of the undernoted projects:-

(a) VARIOUS COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE OF FUME CUPBOARDS 2010/2015

 

The Committee approved acceptance of the most advantageous offer from G K Scotia, Glenrothes, in the sum of 24,911.49, together with allowances amounting to 2,491, giving a total of 27,402.49.

 

(b) 14-28 ST GILES TERRACE - PREMISES FACADE ENHANCEMENT

 

The Committee approved acceptance of the lowest offer from Muirfield Contracts Ltd, Dundee, in the sum of 130,290.28, together with allowances amounting to 22,959, giving a total of 153,249.28.

 

The Committee noted that the undernoted sub-contractors had been listed:-

(c) LOCHEE HIGH STREET - CONTROLLED ENTRIES

 

The Committee approved the acceptance of a negotiated contract with McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee, in the sum of 45,664.90, together with allowances amounting to 3,857, giving a total of 49,521.90.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6, 9 and 12 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

IV PROPOSED SALE OF LAND AT 24 ERSKINE STREET

 

There was submitted Report No 179-2010 by the Director of City Development seeking approval for the sale of an area of land at 24 Erskine Street.

 

The Committee approved the sale on the terms and conditions detailed in the report.

 

V ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TO SMARTBUS PASSENGER WAITING SHELTERS

 

There was submitted Report No 187-2010 by the Director of City Development advising the Committee of the need to undertake electrical maintenance works to SmartBus Passenger waiting shelters.

 

The Committee remitted to the Street Lighting Partnership to undertake essential electrical maintenance to the SmartBus Passenger waiting shelters throughout the City of Dundee at an estimated cost of 125,000.
