I CONTRACT SERVICES FINANCIAL OPERATIONAL STATEMENT AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE FOR THE NINE MONTHS ENDED 31ST DECEMBER, 2009

 

There was submitted Joint Report No 91-2010 by the Director of Finance and Director of Contract Services on the financial position and operational performance of Contract Services for the nine months ending 31st December, 2009.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the current financial position and operational performance of Contract Services; and

 

(ii) note that Contract Services should exceed the statutory requirement of break even for the third year of the current three year rolling period, which commenced at the start of financial year 2007/2008.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED - CITY ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES OFFICER

 

There was submitted Report No 117-2010 by the City Architectural Services Officer giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts:-

(i) ST MARY'S 1ST DEVELOPMENT - HEATING REPLACEMENT

 

The Committee agreed to accept a partnering project with McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee, amounting to 98,600, together with the undernoted allowances:-

IV CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF HOUSING - ANNUAL SCOTTISH CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN38-2010 reporting that the Chartered Institute of Housing - Annual Scottish Conference and Exhibition would be held on 16th-18th March, 2010 at Glasgow SECC. The cost of attendance would be 689 per delegate, excluding travel and subsistence allowances.

 

The Convener, seconded by Councillor Ken Guild, moved that elected member attendance be on the basis of the Convener and the Shadow Convener or his nominee.

 

As an amendment, Councillor Donald Hay, seconded by Bailie Derek J Scott, moved that no elected members attend the conference.

 

On a division, there noted for the motion - the Convener, Councillors Guild, Barrie, Bowes, Andy Dawson, Will Dawson, Duncan, Fordyce, Hunter, Lynn, Melville, Roberts, Ross, Keenan, Asif, Bidwell, Ferguson, Gordon, McCready, Bailies Sawers, Regan, Wright and Lord Provost Letford (23); and for the amendment - Bailies Wallace, Scott, Councillors Hay, Macpherson, Dick and Depute Lord Provost Borthwick (6) - whereupon the motion was declared carried.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

V LEASE OF PROPERTY

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN39-2010 relative to the above.

 

The Committee approved the request to lease one property as detailed and agreed that any further requests be remitted to appropriate officers.
