The minute of meeting of this Committee of 22nd September, 2008 was held as read.

I ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2008/2011

 

There was submitted Report No 512-2008 by the Director of Economic Development requesting approval for the draft Economic Development Plan for the period 2008/2011.

 

The Committee approved the draft Plan and agreed that after consultation with local partners, it be taken forward for design, print and distribution.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER - 7 DUNCAN PLACE - DEMOLITION

 

There was submitted Report No 489-2008 by the City Engineer giving details of offers received for the demolition of 7 Duncan Place.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Gowrie Contractors Ltd amounting to 19,604, together with the undernoted allowances:-

III DEMOLITION OF 4 LOTHIAN CRESCENT

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN202-2008 reporting for the information of the Committee, that the City Engineer had recently invited tenders for the demolition of 4 Lothian Crescent.

 

Valid tenders had been returned by four contractors, ranging from 26,560 to 30,859. Due to vandalism and associated public safety issues, the Chief Executive authorised the acceptance of the lowest tender from Gowrie Contracts Ltd in the amount of 26,560. Allowances of 13,835 were added for non-contract works, professional fees and contingencies, giving a total expenditure of 40,395.

 

The Head of Finance had advised the costs could be met from the Economic Development Capital Budget - Demolition of surplus properties.

 

The Committee noted the foregoing.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

IV COMMERCIAL LEASES

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 510-2008 by the Director of Economic Development detailing commercial leases in respect of the undernoted premises:-

Incubator Unit, James Lindsay Place

 

V RENT REVIEWS

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 511-2008 by the Director of Economic Development detailing rent reviews in respect of the undernoted properties:-
