At a MEETING of the HOUSING, DUNDEE CONTRACT SERVICES AND ENVIRONMENT SERVICES COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 12th May, 2008.

I SOCIAL HOUSING/COUNCIL HOUSING IN DUNDEE

This item was placed on the agenda at the request of the Convener, Bailie Regan. After discussion, the Committee:-

(i) agreed that the Housing, Dundee Contract Services and Environment Services Committee supported the actions of the Leader of the Administration in writing to the Housing Minister requesting a meeting to discuss the need for new build social rented housing in Dundee;

(ii) noted that the Leader of the Administration had asked the Director of Housing to submit a series of reports to the Housing, Dundee Contract Services and Environment Services Committee to enable the Housing, Dundee Contract Services and Environment Services Committee to debate and update Housing policy in the City;

(iii) welcomed the commitment by the Leader of the Administration and the Convener to meet with the Dundee Federation of Tenants' Association in order to keep them informed regarding the content of the Director of Housing's series of reports and to discuss any concerns they might have thereof;

(iv) noted that the Leader of the Administration and the Convener would be meeting with various Housing Associations to seek their support to increase the numbers of houses available for rent in the City, and

(v) approved the establishment of a cross-party working group made up of three members of the Administration Group, three members of the SNP Group, one member of the Conservative Group and Bailie Borthwick to monitor progress of the above items.

II ESTABLISHMENT OF WORKING GROUP

This item was formally withdrawn from consideration.

III TENDERS RECEIVED

There was submitted Report No 273-2008 by the City Architectural Services Officer giving details of offers received for the undernoted contract:-

(a) PLEASANCE DEVELOPMENT - ROOF REPLACEMENT

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated contract with Dundee Contract Services in the sum of 60,939.50, to which required to be added allowances of 747 for CDM Co-ordinator and 6,936 for professional services, giving a total cost of 68,622.50.

The Committee also noted that the undernoted sub-contractor had been listed by Dundee Contract Services:-

A & J Maintenance Support Ltd, Dundee - Scaffolding.
