I HM INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - ST MARY'S RC PRIMARY SCHOOL
There was submitted and noted the HM Inspectorate of Education Inspection Report on St Mary's RC Primary School.
II TENDERS RECEIVED
There was submitted Report No 298-2006 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-
(i) CRAIGIE HIGH SCHOOL - HEATING UPGRADE IN BOYS AND GIRLS CHANGING ROOMS
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Taylor Mechanical Services Ltd, Dundee for 4,308.80 together with an allowance of 646.00 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 4,950.80.
(ii) DRYBURGH EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES CENTRE - BOILER REPLACEMENT
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Taylor Mechanical Services Ltd, Dundee for 108,360.11 together with allowances of 1,113.00 for planning supervisor and 18,988.00 for professional services making a total expenditure of 128,461.11.

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee for 16,524.00, together with allowances of 300.00 for planning supervisor and 2,355.00 for professional services making a total expenditure of 19,179.00.

III EDUCATION DEPARTMENT HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
There was submitted Report No 289-2006 by the Director of Education seeking approval for sections 8-12 of the Education department Health & Safety Policy.
The Committee approved the above.
IV REPLACEMENT OF SCHOOL MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
There was submitted Report No 309-2006 by the Director of Education relative to the above.
The Committee agreed to award the contract for the supply, installation and maintenance of an Education Service and School Management Information System during the period 1st June 2006 to 30th May 2008 to:-

V VARIOUS EDUCATION PROPERTIES - FIRE ALARM AND EMERGENCY LIGHTING UPGRADING
There was submitted Report No 299-2006 by the Director of Education and the City Architectural Services Officer relative to the above.
The Committee agreed that:-
(i) the City Architectural Services Officer be authorised to obtain offers, tenders, or partnership agreements for Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Upgrading Works as detailed in Appendix 1 of the report noted below:-

There was submitted Report No 292-2006 by the Director of Education seeking approval to continue funding to voluntary sector partners for the delivery of Dundee's Early Years and Childcare Strategy.

VII PROVISION OF CHILDCARE FUNDING TO SPECTRUM FOR PROVISION OF SERVICES TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE ON THE AUTISTICSPECTRUM
There was submitted Report No 293-2006 by the Director of Education relative to the above.
The Committee approved the provision of funding to Spectrum to enable the delivery of after school and youth groups for children on the autistic spectrum as outlined in Appendix 1 of the report noted below:-

VIII PILOT PROVISION OF SERVICES TO CHILDREN AGED TWO
There was submitted Report No 294-2006 by the Director of Education seeking approval to bring forward proposals to deliver play, learning and care services to two year old children and a range of support services to their parents as part of a pilot project funded by the Scottish Executive Education Department.
The Committee agreed to approve the Report and remitted:
(i) the Director of Education to bring forward proposals to deliver up to 100 places for children aged 2-3 in 4 locations (25 children per location) at Frances Wright Pre-School Centre, Park Place Nursery School, Mid Craigie Primary School and Fintry Nursery School, and
(ii) the Director of Education to liaise with the Assistant Chief Executive (Management) to bring forward proposals for the staffing of the pilot provision.
IX PROVISION OF OFF-SITE EDUCATION AT HAPPYHILLOCK CENTRE
There was submitted Report No 302-2006 by the Director of Education seeking approval to convert Happyhillock Child and Family Centre into an Education Off-site Centre at a total estimated cost of 50,000 for various works.
The Committee authorised the Director of Education and City Architectural Services Officer to engage Dundee Contract Services, under their small works (not exceeding 25,000) partnering arrangements to carry out the works.
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A) (4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of information as defined in Paragraph 5 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.
X REQUEST FOR EDUCATION AT HOME
There was submitted Agenda Note AN177-2006 reporting for information that, as a matter of urgency due to the timescales involved, the Director of Education, in conjunction with the Convener and Group Spokespersons had agreed an application for home education.
