I MINUTE OF MEETING OF SCHOOL ATTENDANCE SUB-COMMITTEE OF 16TH SEPTEMBER 2003
The minute of the above meeting (Appendix I) was submitted for information.
II HM INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - FOLLOW-UP TO THE INSPECTION OF SIDLAWVIEW PRIMARYSCHOOL AND NURSERY CLASS
There was submitted and noted the follow-up report of HM Inspectorate of Education on Sidlawview Primary School and Nursery Class.
III TENDERS RECEIVED
(a) CITY ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES OFFICER
There was submitted Report No 679-2003 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon.
(i) VARIOUS SCHOOLS - TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE 2003/2008
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer received from Midland Electrical Winding Contracting Limited, Grangemouth, for maintenance of technical equipment at various schools for 2003/2008 for 27,958 (1 year), giving a five year figure of 139,790, together with allowances of 24,193, giving a total of 163,983.
(ii)BELL STREET MUSIC CENTRE - REPLACEMENT OF LUMINARIES AND MISCELLANEOUS MINOR WORKS
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer received from Hydro Contracting, Dundee, for replacement of luminaries and miscellaneous minor repairs at Bell Street Music Centre for 25,059.23, together with allowances of 4,225, giving a total of 29,284.23.
(b) TENDERS RECEIVED - CITY ENGINEER
There was submitted Report No 661-2003 by the City Engineer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon.
(i) BALFIELD PARK PAVILION, GLENTRUIM TERRACE - DEMOLITION
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer received from Trojan Contracting and DIY Limited, for the demolition of Balfield Park Pavilion for 5,400, together with allowances of 4,955, giving a total of 10,355.
IV CHILDCARE STRATEGY GRANTS
There was submitted Report No 678-2003 by the Director of Education seeking approval to fund two new Breakfast Clubs and one new Out of School Care Club to enable them to satisfy Care Commission Registration requirements and to continue support to Dundee Sitter Service.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i)approve proposals to provide funding to support the establishment of breakfast childcare provision at Menzieshill Out of School Care Club and Douglas Out of School Care Club;
(ii)approve proposals to provide funding to support the set up costs of a temporary Out of School Care Club at Gardyne Road; and
(iii)approve proposals to provide continued funding to Dundee Sitter Service.
V DOUGLAS PRIMARY SCHOOL, BALMORAL PLACE, DUNDEE - CARETAKER'S HOUSE - SURPLUS PROPERTY
There was submitted Agenda Note AN456-2003 informing the Committee that the above property was now surplus to Educational requirements.
The Committee agreed that the property be remitted to the Department of Economic Development for (a) consideration of future use, (b) transfer to another appropriate Council Department, or (c) disposal.
