The minute of meeting of this Committee of 18th August 2003 was held as read.

I PROPOSED "IDEAS FACTORY" PROJECT

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 574-2003 seeking approval to the City Council participating in the "Ideas Factory" project to be run by Channel 4 for animation companies in Dundee.

 

The Committee approved support of 10,000 to the project as described in the report.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED

 

The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 498-2003 giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts:-

 

(a) CHRISTMAS LIGHTING 2003/2004

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services to carry out the above works for the sum of 139,875.04 to which required to be added allowances of 1,000 for Planning Supervisor and 11,000 for professional services making a total expenditure of 151,875.04.

 

(b) MANNED GUARDING, COUNCIL HQ COMPLEX - 2003-2007

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Securitay Ltd., amounting to 71,627.40 to which required to be added an allowance of 3,678 for professional services making a total expenditure of 75,305.40.

III 1 - 3 SMEATON ROAD - ALTERATIONS TO FACTORY UNITS (PARTNERING)

 

The Director of Economic Development and the City Architectural Services Officer submitted Joint Report No 606-2003 seeking approval for alterations to the above factory units.

 

The Committee,

 

(a)approved the alterations to the Units at 1 - 3 Smeaton Road at an estimated total cost of 70,000 inclusive of professional fees and,

 

(b)authorised the City Architectural Services Officer to negotiate a contract within the overall allowance under a partnering arrangement with Torith Ltd., and the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) in conjunction with the Director of Economic Development to accept the offer recommended by the City Architectural Services Officer.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

IV COMMERCIAL LEASES

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 569-2003 by the Director of Economic Development detailing commercial leases in respect of the undernoted premises:-

V RENT REVIEWS

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 570-2003 by the Director of Economic Development detailing the review of rent in respect of the undernoted premises:-
