The Committee authorised the Director to carry out the works should the owners not comply within the time allowed in the Notices.
II CONFERENCE - A SUSTAINABLE SEASIDE? - THE FUTURE OF SCOTLAND'S BEACHES - WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY,2002, MARRYAT HALL, DUNDEE
There was submitted an Agenda Note AN32-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection advising that It was reported that Friends of the Earth Scotland in association with the Council and Clean Coast Scotland would be holding a one day conference on Wednesday, 15th May, 2002 in the Marryat Hall, Dundee, which would explore best practice in bathing water and on-shore beach management, including new developments in legislation and practice which would shape the future of Scotland's beaches. The estimated cost would be 80 per person.
The Committee agreed that member representation at this Conference be one member from the Majority Group, one member from the Majority Opposition Group, one member from the Minority Opposition Group and other members who may have a genuine interest in this matter.
III PRO-ACTIVE APPROACH TO THE REPAIR/MAINTENANCE OF STAIR LIGHTING WITHIN PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSING STOCK
There was submitted Report No 215-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking approval for the introduction of a pro-active approach to the repair and maintenance of stair lighting which would assist in preventing the decline of housing stock within the privately owned rented sector. The Committee:-
(i)agreed to the introduction of a service for the replacement of light bulbs/tubes and the adjustment of stair lighting time clocks within communal properties in the privately owned/rented sector.
(ii)agreed that charges be introduced as detailed in the report; and
(iii)agreed that the service be introduced on 1st June, 2002.
CONFIDENTIAL ITEM
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 9 of Part 1 of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.
IV DUNDEE ENERGY RECYCLING LIMITED
There was submitted an Agenda Note AN33-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection advising of action taken concerning Dundee Energy Recycling Limited.
The Committee noted the information contained.
