The minute of meeting of this Committee of 17th September, 2001 was held as read.

I DUNDEE CULTURAL STRATEGY 2001-2006

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage and the Director of Leisure and Parks submitted Joint Report No. 635-2001 seeking approval of the above document.

 

The Committee approved the content of the document "Dundee Cultural Strategy 2001-2006".

 

II MAJOR PROJECT GRANTS AND SMALL PROJECT GRANTS

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 636-2001 seeking approval to award grants to a range of arts and heritage organisations.

 

The Committee authorised the payment of 200 for grants detailed in the appendix to the report.

 

III THE COLOURIST CONNECTION

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 666-2001 informing the Committee of the exhibition "The Colourist Connection".

 

The Committee noted the report and the collaboration with the Education Department.

 

IV BAN THE BOTTLE - THE LIFE OF EDWIN SCRYMGEOUR EXHIBITION

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 671-2001 informing the Committee about the above exhibition.

 

The Committee approved the terms of the report.

 

V McGONAGALL CENTENARY FESTIVAL

 

It was reported that it was proposed to celebrate the centenary of the poet William McGonagall on 29th September, 2002 and a Committee had been formed to bring forward plans for a year of celebration and commemorations.

 

The Committee noted the action taken and agreed that elected members be nominated to sit on the McGonagall Centenary Festival Committee, and authorised the Director of Arts and Heritage to identify officer support within his department to service the McGonagall Festival Group.
