Housing Benefit - How is this paid?

Council Tenants

  •  If you live in a Dundee City Council property your Housing Benefit will be paid weekly, direct to your Rent Account.

Private tenants

If you are a Housing Association tenant, if your landlord is a registered charity or if your tenancy started prior to 2 January 1989:-

  • We will pay your Housing Benefit directly by automatic credit to your bank account (BACS) every four weeks. Or we can pay your Housing Benefit direct to your landlord.

If you are paid under the Local Housing Allowance scheme:-

  • We will pay your Housing Benefit directly by automatic credit to your bank account (BACS), every four weeks. We can only pay your Housing Benefit direct to your landlord if you are classed as vulnerable or cannot manage your own finances (e.g. have more than 8 weeks rent arrears). If you do not have a bank account we recommend that you open one.

Payment is made by BACS, the following link explains more about this:-
