Since August 2009 those in receipt of planning permission for certain kinds of development will be required to complete and display a Site Notice in a prominent place at or near the site of the development permitted and where it is readily visible to the public. This is a legal requirement.
The categories of permission concerned are for national and major categories of development and for "bad neighbour" developments (e.g. licensed premises, restaurants, hot food shops, development over 20 metres in height and other categories of use specified in the Regulations).
A Template Notice will be issued with the planning permission decision notices concerned.
It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the development to ensure compliance with these requirements. It may constitute a breach of planning control not to display such a Notice and planning enforcement action may follow.
The purpose of the Notice is to provide the public with information
- about the permission, reducing the potential number of enquiries concerning the development or the site;
- as to where further details of the permission can be obtained ; and
- as to where further enquiries may be made of the Council or Scottish Ministers
A copy of the Notice may be downloaded.
