What can I not put in my grey bin?

  • Gas Canisters/Bottles and Batteries (domestic, lead acid, lithium, vape) must not be placed in any household bins. Disposal of these hazardous items within household bins poses a serious fire risk and can lead to extremely dangerous situations for waste management operatives and reprocessors. Please refer to our Recycling A-Z for information on safe disposal of these items.
  • Any item that can be recycled using your new recycling services
  • Any item of furniture or electrical items

Please don't present additional bags or large items at the side of your bin. This is classed as fly-tipping which is a criminal offence. Excess bags and large items can either be disposed of at a Household Waste Recycling Centre or collected via the Bulky Uplift service (chargeable).

Recycling Information

Non-recycled waste is sent for energy recovery at MVV Baldovie Energy from Waste (EfW) facility, rather than to a landfill site. Electricity and heat is generated as part of this treatment process. Find out more about what happens to your non-recyclable general waste.
