Sustainable Dundee
Dundee Local Area Energy Plan
Dundee City Council published their Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) in September 2024, creating a route map to guide the Council in meeting its net zero goals and climate emergency declarations.
Led by the Dundee Climate Leadership Group (DCLG), the LAEP provides an understanding of the nature, scale, rate, and timing of the changes needed for Dundee to transition to a net zero energy system by 2045, and describes the priority interventions, and recommended actions that will support the city in delivering its net zero target.
Dundee Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy
The requirement for a Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy was introduced by the Scottish Government to drive forward heat decarbonisation and better energy efficiency in buildings.
Dundee’s Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) is an important strategic plan for the city. It will help to tackle the city’s climate emergency and meet its net zero target whilst also improving the thermal comfort and health and wellbeing of residents, helping to alleviate fuel poverty, and offering the potential for new economic opportunities in the city.
Dundee Climate Action Plan
In June 2019, the Council declared a Climate Emergency, recognising the serious and accelerating environmental, social and economic challenges faced by climate change.
