Guidance for Parents/Carers

If your child has additional support needs and receives transport to school, please follow these guidelines:

  • Meet the vehicle morning/afternoons at your identified pick up point and time
  • Make sure your child is well enough to travel and attend school
  • If you are changing address please submit a new application
  • The driver is not authorised to drop your child at a different address
  • Let the Contractor and School know if your child will not travel on any day
  • Let the driver know if your child gets car sick
  • Ensure your child visits the toilet before the journey
  • Advise the Driver/Travel Assistant about what might confort/upset your child
  • Exchange mobile numbers with the Driver/Travel Assistant
  • Call the ASN Travel Team if you are unexpectedly delayed

Travel Assistance Applications must be submitted every year. If you do not apply, there is no guarantee your child will continue to receive travel assistance.
