Advance Notice – Publication of Public Comments on Planning Applications
Published: 20 August 2026
From 1 September 2026, the Council will publish public comments received on planning applications through the online Planning Portal.
This change is being introduced to improve transparency and openness in the planning process and reflects the approach already adopted by a number of other planning authorities.
What information will be published?
Where you submit a comment, representation or objection on a planning application, the following information will be published and available to view online:
- Your name;
- Your address; and
- The content of your representation.
What information will not be published?
The Council will remove personal information that is not required for planning purposes before publication, including:
- Email addresses;
- Telephone numbers;
- Signatures; and
- Any other sensitive personal information.
The Council will also not publish any comments that contain offensive, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate content.
When will this change take effect?
The publication of public comments will apply to all planning applications validated on and or after 1 September 2026.

Making Comments Online
Using our online service you can register to comment online or simply comment without registering.
Registration only takes a couple of minutes to and will also allow you to track applications and save searches. Once registered, please follow the steps below:
- Log into your account
- click Search > Planning > Simple Search to find the application you wish to comment on
- On the right side of the page click "make a public comment"
- Enter your comments
- Click "submit"
Making Comments by Email or Post
To comment by email or post, please write to the address below ensuring you include the following:
- The date
- Your name and address
- The reference number of the application
- The address of the site
- Your comments

Please note: Comments made by members of the public and consultation responses can also be viewed. These will be made available 3 days before the Development Management Committee is due to consider the application. This is in accordance with legislation.
In compliance with data protection legislation, some personal information, such as signatures, personal telephone numbers and e-mail addresses will be redacted.
