Challenge Poverty Week 2026

Challenge Poverty Week

A range of activities, information sessions and events will take place across Dundee as part of Challenge Poverty Week, hosted by the Council and its partners.

Running from 5-11 October, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the realities of living in poverty and highlight the positive action being taken across the city to tackle poverty and inequality.

The week will provide opportunities for residents to find out more about local support, take part in activities and learn about the work being done by organisations and communities across Dundee to make a positive difference.

Events taking place during the week include a Challenge Poverty lecture, a foodbank fundraiser, volunteer recognition, drop-ins, advice sessions, community events and the highlighting of different groups that tackle poverty in Dundee.

Citizens and organisations can keep up to date with everything happening during Challenge Poverty Week by following the Council’s social media channels or viewing the full programme in the events calendar.

Council spokesperson for Fairness and Wellbeing, Councillor Siobhan Tolland, said: “Challenging poverty is something we should be committed to all year round, but Challenge Poverty Week gives us an important opportunity to highlight the experiences of people living in poverty and the support available across Dundee.

“I’m proud to be taking part once again alongside the Council and our partners. Each year, coming together for Challenge Poverty Week is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organisations and communities work together to tackle poverty and inequality.

“With many people continuing to face pressures around the cost of everyday essentials, it is vital that we promote the advice, services and support available to those who need it.

“I look forward to visiting some of the events taking place across Dundee and seeing the positive work happening across our communities.
