Dundee recognised for climate action for fourth year

Dundee has been recognised for the fourth year in a row for its environmental leadership and transparency.
Global charity CDP has published its annual list of cities in which it awards Dundee City Council with its highest possible ranking an ‘A rating’ for 2025.
CDP is a not-for-profit organisation which operates an independent environmental disclosure system with over 1,000 cities, states and regions reporting environmental data.
By awarding ‘A rating’ status to Dundee, CDP has recognised the city as a leader in demonstrating comprehensive disclosure, environmental governance, and meaningful progress towards environmental resilience.
Climate, Net Zero & Environment Convener Cllr Heather Anderson said: “Dundee has rightfully been recognised again as a leader on environmental action and received the highest possible rating from the independent charity CDP for our best practice and transparency.
“This is testament to the varied and positive work being carried out in our city. We take the work that needs to be done on the environment seriously as the scale of the challenge facing us all is considerable with no single organisation or solution capable of addressing every sustainable challenge.
“The Dundee Climate Leadership Group is also leading the way in supporting city-wide efforts to bring the public, private and community organisations together to utilise the expertise we have here to reduce carbon emissions and meet our overall city objectives.”
Chief Executive Officer of CDP Sherry Madera said: “Cities play a decisive role in shaping a resilient and earth-positive future.
“When local governments commit to transparent disclosure, robust climate planning and clear adaptation strategies, they not only protect their communities but also unlock opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth.
“Their leadership shows how data-driven climate action can strengthen both people and the planet.”
