Strathmartine Community Clean Up

Starthmarine, Community Clean Up, Councillor Heather Anderson, Councillor Lee Mills

Another Take Pride in Your City campaign Community Clean-Up has taken place in the city this week with Council teams carrying out additional environmental works within the Strathmartine ward area.

Residents made good use of the available skips for the disposal of unwanted household items as Environmental staff were on hand to assist and answer questions about how best to recycle and dispose of waste appropriately.

The Clean-Up also saw Council employees clear litter & debris, strim vegetation from building and fence lines, tidy up communal areas where required, and carry out mechanical and manual sweeping of paths & street areas.

Climate, Net Zero & Environment Convener Cllr Heather Anderson said: "I never tire of saying that it’s not the binmen who make the mess. Keeping our streets and green spaces clean needs all of us to do our bit.

"This is our litter – and it would be great if we all play our part in making sure it’s safely in the bin, not on our streets, in our parks and over our roads. I know so many of you want the place to look its best.

"That’s why The Take Pride in Your City campaign helps to bring people and partners together to make the place look its best, and this week Strathmartine saw first-hand benefits that can come from this.

"Our Community Clean-Ups have become a popular addition to the Take Pride Dundee efforts, and it is great to see local residents taking up the opportunity to get rid of their rubbish in the correct way and engaging with staff on matters such as recycling."

Community Clean-Ups are now a regular fixture of the Take Pride effort and have been taken place in neighbourhoods across Dundee with more planned for the future.

Information about future community clean-ups is communicated directly to local residents shortly before taking place.
