Minister Visits Menzieshill Community Hub

Minister for Employment and Investment Tom Arthur visited Menzieshill Community Hub to see the impact it has made for people and the local area across nearly five years of operation.
The minister learned about youth work opportunities and activities at the community garden and food larder.
A library, sports halls, and social enterprise cafe have seen the hub become a focal point for the community.
Meanwhile, NHS activities are also staged regularly at the hub.
Menzieshill Community Hub has benefited from a £1.32 million investment from the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund to support its development.
The hub is an integral part of a regeneration strategy for the area. This has already created an integrated community offer of school, multi-use games area, community garden and community hub, and is looking forward to attracting new investment.
Planning approval has been given for retail units and flats in Dickson Avenue, while a planning application has recently been submitted for housing on the former Gowriehill Primary School site.
Councillor Stewart Hunter, convener of Children, Families and Communities said; “We were pleased to show the minister the impact that the hub has made for local people through its range of facilities and activities.”
Councillior Siobhan Tolland, depute convener of Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure, added: “Menzieshill Community Hub is helping in the regeneration of the area, and we are seeing potential developments emerging for the future.”
