Nominations to find Dundee’s Citizen of the Year for 2024 have officially opened.

Each year an individual, usually a volunteer, from the community is chosen to highlight their work and selfless efforts by naming them Citizen of the Year.

The process is an opportunity to recognise someone who has gone the extra mile to support their community.

Last year’s Citizen of the Year was Raymond Edwards, who has carried out long-term voluntary work with the 30th Dundee Boys’ Brigade, helped the city’s Turning Point charity, volunteered with the YMCA and also taken part in fundraising efforts for a range of causes.

Lord Provost Bill Campbell said: “The Citizen of the Year award attracts a wide variety of fantastic candidates who have provided outstanding service to their community.

“We want to recognise their selfless service to others and the positive impact they have within our city.

“The title of Citizen of the Year is a special one and is awarded to someone who, normally on a voluntary basis, carries out work benefiting Dundee.”

If you feel anyone is worthy of nomination, please return a completed nomination form by Tuesday 21st May 2024.

The full criteria for eligible candidates is available on the form, including that the individual must live within the Dundee City Council area.

The Citizen of the Year 2024 Award nomination form is available from the Dundee City Council website.
