People are being encouraged to visit a new exhibition showing the proposed transformation of Union Street in the city centre.

Dundee City Council, Sustrans and the UNESCO City of Design have been working together with members of the public, partners and stakeholders during a co-design phase to produce the final proposal for the street.

Union Street is a mix of shops, pubs, restaurants & cafes and over the past few years has seen pedestrianisation of the street as well as street markings, the installation of planters and the inclusion of tables and chairs from local eateries.

The exhibition is being held at Dundee Design House on Union Street and will be open on Thursday 28 March from 4–7pm and again on Friday 29 March 9.30am–4pm.

The drawings and models will be kept on display in Dundee Design House until 19 April to ensure that all businesses and residents have the opportunity to drop in and see the proposals. Stakeholder groups will also be invited back to the space to respond to the final proposal.

Councillor Steven Rome, Convener of Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure, met with designers Linsey McIntosh and Gary Kennedy to discuss the process and reasoning behind the designs.

Councillor Rome said: "I was delighted to pop along to the Dundee Design House to see the design proposals for Union Street.

"The exhibition is a chance for locals, businesses and visitors to see all the great work that has been going on to develop the area into a vibrant and unique destination. I would encourage everyone to go and have a look at the designs."

You can find out more about the designs and Union Street on the Design Dundee website.

The project is being funded through Places for Everyone, an active travel infrastructure programme backed by the Scottish Government and administered by Sustrans.
