Amazon Web Services re/Start Graduations

Council Leader, Councillor John Alexander and Depute Convener of City Development, Councillor Steven Rome met with the very first cohort from Amazon Web Services re/Start programme, in partnership with Dundee & Angus College.
The workforce development training programme is built to prepare those taking part for careers in cloud technology and other digital skills.
A technology background was not required to apply. The program is free to the learner and focused on helping unemployed or underemployed individuals launching a new career.
Through coursework and hands-on labs, using real world scenarios, learners can gain the technical skills they need for entry to mid-level cloud roles.
Councillor Alexander said, "I was delighted to present certificates to all of those that have participated in the programme, at an event at the Gardyne Campus.
"These types of programmes offer unique and hugely valuable training for increasingly important skills."
Councillor Steven Rome added, "Dundee digital and tech sector continues to grow and thrive. In order to ensure that continues, we need a steady pipeline of talent and those with the skills to address a shortage in the workforce.
"The city is well placed to provide that pipeline and through these programmes, we can ensure that jobs, investment and development continue to benefit the entire city."
