Council Leader Visits Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design
18/05/23Council Leader, Councillor John Alexander recently visited Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and met with representatives from the University of Dundee.
Joined by the School Dean, Prof. Anita Taylor and a number of her esteemed colleagues, Councillor Alexander was given a guided tour of the facilities, met with a number of teaching staff and students and visited the renowned Cooper Gallery.
The visit, in advance of the annual Degree Show - the first since the Covid-19 pandemic, was an opportunity to discuss city's vision for the creative sector and how it can be better supported.
Councillor Alexander said, "We talk a lot about creativity and arts in the context of the wider city but it's always better to see it, touch it and speak to those that deliver it daily.
"DJCAD offers the city and residents a unique opportunity and as one of the UK's leading lights in art, design and architecture, we should be very proud of their achievements.
"With the upcoming degree show, which runs from 20th May until 28th May, the campus will be a vibrant space with lots to see. I would encourage everyone in the city to get down and see what is on our doorstep.
"It really is a showcase of talent and ambition."
The Degree Show is open daily from 10am to 4pm from May 20 to May 28, at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design which is part of the University of Dundee.
Further details for the events can be found on the University of Dundee website.
