Eight Local Community Plans, one for each of Dundee’s wards, have been launched following extensive engagement on community needs and aspirations.

Five broad Community Priorities were identified from listening to community members. These included empowering communities, the cost of living, health & wellbeing, children & families, and climate change.

Local Community Planning Partnerships will be responsible in each of the city’s wards on delivering on the Plans. The Partnerships will report to a Local Leadership Group and publish annual reports on how they are reducing inequalities in their community.

Dundee City Council Leader Councillor John Alexander said: “I’m delighted to be launching Dundee’s Local Community Plans here today.

“Local Community Plans and their associated Local Community Planning Partnerships present us with the opportunity to improve our local communities and work towards the sort of city we want to have in the future.

“These plans are all about partnership working. It’s important that genuine meaningful partnerships between the city’s communities, public services and third sector organisations are maintained in order to work together to deliver on the Plans.

“By working together, in our communities, we can help take direct action on climate change, deliver on employment, give the best possible start to our city’s children and young people, and help to support others who need it.

“Through partnership working, we can share the knowledge and best practice needed to ensure we meet the challenges and grasp the opportunities that arise right across the city.”

The plans are a combination of community needs and aspirations developed through Engage Dundee 2021 and the subsequent Community Collections and local approaches to delivering on Dundee’s strategic objectives.

The Local Community Plans 2022-27 were approved at the city’s September Policy & Resources Committee and can be found on the Dundee City Council website.
